There’s nothing more classic than a Richmond city wedding! Complete with a trolley for transportation, the guys in black tuxes, and the bride in a dress created from her Momma’s wedding dress?! Yes please! Ty and I celebrated with Matt + Taylor this past weekend at the Country Club of Virginia shortly after they said “I do” at St. Peter’s Church downtown. Every chance we get to shoot in our city it feels like a dream come true!
Matt + Taylor met in Richmond at Lady N’awlins, a restaurant downtown. Matt had recently moved back to the city from Arlington and Taylor had just moved back from Clemson. Both having grown up around the Richmond area, they were grateful to be back in the city. That night at Lady N’awlins, Tay noticed Matt looking over at her so she approached him for a drink. They immediately hit it off. They exchanged numbers and Matt asked her to dinner the following week.
Since so much of their story centered around Richmond, it only seemed fitting that they get married in the city that has meant so much to them throughout their lives! So they did!
Their vision for their day centered around a new, clean, modern style that showcased the old, historical side of the city they grew up in. Their day consisted of a traditional catholic mass ceremony, “just married” portraits at the capitol across the street, and an open air outdoor lounge cocktail hour. The night was topped off with fine dining in the ballroom and lots and lots of dancing to boot! It was beautiful in every way!
Matt + Taylor, we loved being a part of your wedding day team! We hope your marriage can continue to be one that not only brings joy to the both of you, but also to those around you! Thanks for sharing your love with us and we hope you enjoy this sneak peek!
