Peter and Brittney officially connected junior year in high school in their history class. They had known about each other since they were kids, but “sparks didn’t fly” until high school. Brittney was a cheerleader and Peter was on the drum line in the marching band. They times that they spent together began to outweigh the times that they didn’t. Their lives quickly became intertwined. They were inseparable and forever high school sweethearts!!
One of Peter + Brittney’s favorite things to do together is spend time outdoors enjoying and discovering new parts of the DC area. Weeks before their engagement, Peter asked if they could spend a lazy Sunday afternoon at the National Arboretum with their new puppy Zeus? This took the possibility of engagement way off Brittney’s radar. The morning they planned to go it was raining, but Peter insisted they go anyways. When they arrived the sun was shining and the gardens were stunning! They were walking by the Capitol Columns when suddenly Peter stopped and gave Brittney his “classic look”. She instantly knew by looking in his teary eyes what was about to happen. Peter dropped to one knee and asked Brittney to marry him. She heard shutters of photographers around them capturing the moment, but she was so overwhelmed with happiness that she fell to the ground to hug Peter on one knee, totally forgetting to respond with “YES!” After what seemed like an hour of crying, hugging and kissing, Peter told Brittney that they were going home to quickly pack their suitcases because he had planned a mini vacation to Rehoboth Beach to enjoy time together as a newly engaged couple!
Ty and I love these two! Their wedding day was perfect in every way. Their vows left us both in tears because the love they have towards one another is so evident in how they care for each other and one another’s families. It is such a special thing to be with someone for as long as these two have been together. It takes a lot of work, devotion, and intentionality to “grow up” with your future spouse. To see each other through the immature, 16 year old teenager stage, through graduation, and college, and finally adulthood. What sweet lifelong memories these two will have the joy of reflecting on for years to come! We were so honored to document their day and celebrate them together! Enjoy this sweet little highlight film from their beautiful day!!
