They fell in love quite quickly. After a serendipitous meeting in a restaurant in DC where they spent the night talking about their mutual love for national parks and the redemptive nature of God – they knew that their first meeting would not be their last. In fact, Ashleigh told her Mom that night that she had met then man she was going to marry.
Fast forward through 10 months of dating on a rare warm day in February. Paul had organized for them to go horse back riding at Veritas Vineyards in Charlottesville. Unbeknownst to Ashleigh, he had also set up the day with his proposal to her in mind. After horseback riding, they went to dinner at Alley Light on the downtown mall. After dinner they spent some time walking around and it was there that Paul dropped to one knee and asked Ashleigh to be his wife. And just a few short months later, they would gather with family and friends back at Alley Light to celebrate their rehearsal dinner together!
Celebrating these two is easy. They are intentional, servant-hearted, and others focused. They told us multiple times before their wedding day that they wanted their guests to feel blessed in being a part of their day. They intentionally made decisions about their wedding day with others in mind. How special is that?!
Marriage is a commitment and a surrendering of yourself to your partner. And the most beautiful thing about that is that these two get that! I’m not sure we’ve ever been a part of a wedding day where the personal vows that our sweet couple shared were more intentional, thoughtful, and truly crafted with the years ahead in mind.
Paul and Ashleigh, we are delighted to have been a part of your wedding day. We are grateful for the joy you have in marriage and the ways you choose one another and care for one another. It is such an encouragement to see! We pray that you guys are blessed beyond belief in the years to come. Enjoy reliving this day – day one of your legacy together as Mr & Mrs O’Brien!
