James + Maggie met where the majority of our couples meet, online ;] Their first date was at a Spanish tapas restaurant in Arlington where they talked for 7 hours straight until the last bar in town closed down. They are both huge foodies and Maggie’s pretty sure the majority of that first date was spent talking about restaurants, cooking, and food. But as the conversation grew, so did their relationship.
Days turned into months and months turned into years. James and Maggie had relocated to Delaware from Virginia for work. They were both missing Virginia a ton, so when James suggested they spend a weekend touring some wineries in Loudon County Maggie had her suspicions that he would propose. But she also thought the suggested trip could just be because they were homesick.
They spent the afternoon wine tasting and at every winery there managed to be a rowdy bachelorette party that appeared every time we were alone. Thus spoiling James’ proposal “plan A”. After hitting a few wineries they headed back to their hotel in Arlington and grabbed a cab into DC for dinner. James asked the driver to drop them off at the National Mall and brought Maggie to the Botanical Gardens where they had spent time together before. And there, he asked her to marry him. Maggie had to make James repeat his whole speech because she was so excited/crying so much that she missed about half of it! And there they began planning their March Pippin Hill wedding alongside their dearest family and friends.
Ty and I love shooting at Pippin Hill and we love even more when we have the opportunity to shoot alongside our dear friends Katelyn + Michael!! But really, what takes the cake is when we get to document the biggest day of sweetest couple’s lives!
My favorite moment from James + Maggie’s perfect day was when Maggie walked out the front door of the barn as James faced away with his eyes closed and as she came around in front of him, he opened his eyes to see his beautiful bride for the first time. I choked back tears as he gazed at her loving full of anticipation of forever and awe of that moment. There’s something so special about first looks and those few short moments together before you say “I do”. If the handwritten notes don’t have me crying before the ceremony, this always does!!
James + Maggie, we are so thankful to have been a part of your beautiful day!! We hope you cherish these memories for a lifetime together! Here’s to finding love in the most unexpected places but holding on to it because you know it’s true <3
